The social media industry changes rapidly and if you don’t keep up with the latest trends, you may be left in the dust by your competitors. At the start of the year, we wrote about the four trends social media marketing should expect in 2017. Here’s an update on social media trends to bring you up to speed.
LinkedIn recently announced a new feature called “Storylines” which curates and displays trending news stories and content, similar to Facebook and Twitter. That means you’ll have better access to the most pertinent daily news, important voices, and influencers, all based on your professional industry and interests. This is something to keep in mind for your brand when planning content for the platform. Think about appropriate hashtags and keywords to add to the conversation.
Ever wish a consumer could purchase your product after just looking at a picture of it on social media? Instagram has been testing this feature since 2016, but now Instagram will enable more US brands to sell products through organic photos. As of today, any apparel, beauty, or jewelry brand, in the US that has added their product catalog to Facebook can apply to use Instagram Shopping.
LIVE VIDEO STILL ON THE RISE
Earlier this year, we shared that live video is on the rise. Instagram is now making it easier to save live videos. Within Instagram, you can now save Live videos to your camera roll after your stream ends. A ‘save’ button will appear at the top right corner after your video ends. This could help you be more efficient when capturing content for your brand. Note: Only the raw video will save, not any interactions (comments, hearts) that were received during the video.
